CARTERTON
ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. ("Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows was held last evening. N.G.. Bro. C. C. Deller presiding over a fair attendance of members. Two members declared off the sick funds of the lodge. Bro. H. H. L. Meyrick, of Palmerston North, wrote thanking the lodge for its kindness to him during his recent illness. The District Deputy Grand Master wrote thanking the lodge for its letter of congratulation upon his elevation to district office. Sick pay amounting to £9 10s was ordered to be paid and other accounts amounting to £67 15 s lid were passed. It was resolved to entertain P.G. Bro. A. R. Stefl'ert, a member of the Second Echelon, on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock, when it is expected a large number of members of the lodge will be present. OBITUARY MR ARTHUR FEAST. The death occurred last night of Mr Arthur Feast, a well-known resident of Carterton, at the age of 65 years. The late Mr Feast had been practically an invalid for the past twelve months oi so. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his residence. Rhodes Street. LOAN TO GOVERNMENT MADE BY GOLF CLUB. At the annual meeting of' the Carterton Golf Club last night it was decided to forward to the Government a loan of £5O, free of interest for the duration of the war and six months after. Personal Items. Mrs. Trott, of Auckland, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs. A. T. Hafvke. Clareville, has returned to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Hawker, who have been spending a holiday at Paraparaumu, have returned to Carterton. Mrs. A. W. Beale, who has been visiting Gisborne, returned home yesterday, and was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Oakey. The residents of Clareville will tonight entertain Private Phil Wright, a member of the Second Echelon. Mr and Mrs A. E. Tucker, Rhodes Street, Carterton, will spend Easter in Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs E. Hedley and family will be at Paraparaumu for the Easter holidays. Miss K. Booth, Takapuna, who has been visiting relations in the Wairarapa and Dannevirke for some time past, has left for her home in Takapuna. She was accompanied by Mrs J. Skeet, who will be the guest of her sisters, Mrs A. E. Gray, Auckland, and Miss K. Booth, Takapuna. Mr and Mrs A. E. Jackson and family will spend Easter at Taupo.
