WAR OF LIBERATION

JUSTICE FOR PEOPLES OF EUROPE HOPES OF SECURING LASTING PEACE. i BRITISH LABOUR MEMBER IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. "It is not true to suggest that the war aims of Britain are France are Imperialistic. The war in reality is a battle of liberation and justice for peoples whose liberties have been destroyed and also an effort by the Allies to secure conditions upon which a just peace could be established in Europe and the world,” declared Mr. D. R. Grenfell. C.8.E., British Labour M.P., on his arrival in Wellington today. Mr. Grenfell is a member of the Parliamentary Executive of the British Labour Party and is here to represent the Unitbd Kingdom branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association at the Centennial celebrations. “In Britain,’ he said, “the people are facing all their discomforts with fortitude and patience. They are united in their determination that Hitler is not to dominate Europe, and realise fully what is at stake for the nations of Europe and for individual citizens in Britain. The war is regarded as an Europe and for individual citizens. In Britain the war is regarded as an effort to prevent further degradation of political conditions and the removal of the menace of dictatorship which Germans would establish if they gained mlitary ascendancy.” Mr. Grenfell speaks tomorrow at the luncheon of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association. He was met on his arrival by the Hon. P. Fraser( Deputy-Prime Minister). the Hon. D. Wilson (Leadei- of the Legislative Council), and Mr C. M. Bothamley, hon. secretary of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association.
