For the second day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s meeting the weather was fine. There was a large crowd and the track was fast. The totalisator handled £72,871 10s, compared with £72.085 10s last year, an increase of £786. Results:—

Two full-brothers, Sir Drake, who is four years old, and Captain Drake, who is five years old, won the respective divisions of the Lambourne Handicap, seven furlongs, at Mentone, Victoria, recently. It was a most unusual occurrence, not omy for a Melbourne but probably for any course. These two geldings are by Drake out of Curlesque. Sir Drake is a huge gelding and he led all the way in his heat, for which he was favourite. He is owned by Mr J. Mcßae and his trainer (J. Pearson). Captain Drake had been trying to win a race for three years c-iid this was his first success. He was previously raced by J. Hackett and H. It. Telford, who thought so highly of him that they ran him in weight-for-age events. He is now raced by Mr L. S. Harris and trained by F. Manning. Jnnr.
