SCHOOL SPORTS

EVENTS AT OREYTOWN •■SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. THE PRIZE WINNERS. (“Times-Age" Special.) The pupils of the Greytown District High School were favoured with particularly pleasant conditions for their annual athletic sports. A very comprehensive programme was completed except for some of the jumping, but the latter results cannot make any radical alteration to the position of the House teams The Moa House, which had carried off the honours in the swimming contest was outclassed by the Huias, who scored a most meritorious win. The points,' exclusive of the jumping events yet to be taken, resulted as follows: Huia. 286; Tui, 162; Moa. 139; and Kiwi. 124.

There was a very large attendance of parents; the programme consisted of 83 events. During the afternoon, Mr. Carter and Mr. Shedden complimented the pupils and thanked the parents for their attendance and those who had assisted in the mangement of the meeting. Very close finishes and some excellent sprinting by girls as well as by boys weer the order of the day. Those responsible for controlling the events were: Starter, Mr. S. C. Shedden; organiser and announcer, Mr. G. S. Maloney; judges, Messrs. M. Whimp, T. Anker and Miss Anker; recorders. Misses D. Tully, C. G. Keddell, I. Askew, W. Harding and I. E. Stephens.
