FAIRYLAND OF COLOUR

THE NEW REGENT THEATRE

MODERN HOUSE OF ENTERTAINMENT.

EXPERT TRADESMEN LEAVE THEIR MARK.

Tomorrow “Tivoli" will disappear as the name of the popular picture theatre at Carterton and will be replaced by the "Regent." The theatre has been remodelled and brought up to date and stands out as one of the most modern country houses of amusement in the Dominion. The tradesmen whose names appear on this page have left the mark of their expert tradesmanship on the theatre. Those who visit the building will see for themselves the transformation which has taken place.

The front portion of the theatre has been constructed on modern artistic lines and is shown up to the best advantage by colourful Neon lighting. The entrance has a tiled lino with a black tiled wall skirting. The lobby and stairs are covered with a wall to wall rust shade body carpet and here, too. the Neon lighting has a handsome effect. The interior is finished in a deep amber shade and entirely lit by concealed Neon tubes. The stage surrounded by Neon tubes manipulated with switches, gives a curtain colour change of twelve distinct shades. The interior of the building is a fairyland of colour.

The Regent presents as its opening attraction that outstanding comedy. "The Lady Vanishes." starring Margaret Lockwood. Michael Redgrave. Paul Lukas. Dame May Whitty and a host of other talented stars. A special opening attraction will be that talented little dancer. Miss Noeline Graham <a pupil of Miss Wood. Masterton) in a brilliant presentation of acrobatic and tap dancing. There will also be a selection of excellent featurettes. so patrons are advised to book their seats for the opening night.
