DECLARATION BY SWEDISH MINISTER Soviet Peace Terms Made More Severe NEED OF COMMON POLICY IN MUTUAL INTEREST COLLABORATION OF NORTHERN PEOPLE (By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, March 13. “Our position has become worse as a result of the change in the Russo-Finnish frontiers,” declared the Swedish Foreign Minister, M. Guenther, speaking in Parliament. He expressed surprise at the peace terms, which, he said, were more severe than those Sweden had transmitted to Finland. Finland apparenently did not realise till the last, moment that a, world war would have been inevitable if foreign military intervention had been necessary to save her. The time had now e.ome lor new resolution. “The danger to ns has not passed,’’ said M. Guenther. “The continuation of the European war still presents grave risks, and henceforth we must increasingly be ready to direct our common policy 10 the common interest. The northern people should collaborate more closely to strengthen, themselves.” The Finnish Government. has issued a. proclamation emphasising that complete unity is essential for successful reconstruction. It adds that peace was concluded to prevent greater misfortune. ‘‘We were able through the efforts of onr heroic army and the entire nation, and the blood sacrifice of our Finnish youth, to preserve our dearest, possessions—liberty and national honour,” says Die statement.
