MASTERTON SALE

The Associated Auctioneers report:— We held our weekly sale in the Colombo Road Yards yesterday, when an entry in excess of advertised numbers was submitted to a big attendance. The breeding ewes were not up to me standard of those offered at our previous fairs, but this must be expected, for practically all the main lines have been sold before this. There is still a good inquiry for good class ewes and anything up to the mark yesterday sold well. Prices for two-tooth ewes were not up to last week, but all those offered yesterday were on the small side. Several pens of store wethers were offered and these met with spirited competition, all pens selling at advanced prices. Good conditioned white-face lambs also showed an improvement, and the few b.f. lambs yarded made good money. Small wether and ewe lambs sold at late rates. Fats were about on a par with last week. Following are prices:—

Two-tooth ewes: Ac. J. M. Tarbot, 26s 3d; ac. Geo. Show, 265; ac. H. H. Mawley, 245.; others, 22s 6d to 23s 6d; small. 20s to 21s 6d. Four-tooth Ewes: Ac. Laing Bros.. 275; others, 21s to 245. W.f. Wether Lambs: Good, 14s 6d to 17s Id; medium, 12s to 13s 6d; small, 6s 8d to 10s. Ewe. Lambs: Good, 16s 6d to 18s: medium. 12s Id to 15s 6d.
