PICNIC AT PIRINOA

COMBINED GATHERING

SPORTS AND OTHER EVENTS.

LIST OF PRIZE-WINNERS.

(Continued from page 7.)

(“Times-Age" Special.)

The combined school picnic of lhe Pirinoa and Tuhitarata schools and the Women’s Institute was held on the property of the McDougall Estate on Friday. The weather was fine and the attendance large. The sport during the day was interesting and in most of the events some close finishes were witnessed, which reflected great credit on the handicapper and starter, Mr G. McIntosh. The teachers of the respective schools also worked energetically, which’ materially helped to make the day an exceedingly pleasant one. The committee spared no efforts to cater for the enjoyment of the children. Prior to the presentation of prizes, Mr. J. Carter, in the temporary absence of the chairman of the local committee, thanked all for the financial assistance and other help given and especially the ladies for their untiring efforts in organising and catering for the wants of the children. He also referred to the generosity of the residents in responding so liberally to the appeal for funds for the picnic. Both committees greatly appreciated the help so liberally given. Miss N.
