ODD FELLOWS’ LODGE
BUSINESS AT FORTNIGHTLY MEETING.
EASTER DANCE CANCELLED.
The usual fortnightly meeting of Loyal Masterton Odd Fellows’ Lodge was held on Monday evening. N.G. Bro P. C. Reynolds presided over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received'from and leave of absence granted to Sisters M. E. Prout. A. M. Davey, H. B. Larsen, M. Brader and P. J. Wilton. A letter of recommendation was granted to N.G. Bro P. C. Reynolds, which will enable him to visit lodges in Australia and receive the privileges of the order.
Notification was received that the lodge officers would be examined in ritual on Monday, April 24. It was resolved that owing to the absence of the presiding officer to withdraw from the competition for this term. P.G. Bro E. J. Mooney reported on the success achieved by the Cricket Club during the recess and considered that the team had an excellent chance of winning junior championship honours. The social secretary, P.G. Bro W. A. Palmer, reported that arrangements had been made to hold the next dance on the night of Easter Saturday, March 23, but a difficulty had arisen as practically all the members of the committee would be absent from Masterton on that particular date. After a brief discussion it was unanimously decided to cancel the function. Bros R. C. Baikie and P. M. Smith presented reports on the business transacted at the Wellington District M.U. Hospital Association and the recent District Conference.
It was resolved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the delegates for their comprehensive reports.
It was decided that the next meeting, which falls on the night of Easter Monday, be held. Accounts totalling £5B 3s 3d, covering sick pay, hospital association benefits, management and social expense, were passed.
A letter of recommendation was received from Loyal Oamaru Lodge, on behalf of Bro B. S. Gillies, whose name was added to the lodge medical and dispensary funds.
After the conclusion of business the Sisters kindly provided supper.
