NEED OF COUNTERING NAZI BROADCASTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON. March 12. Major Astor, in a speech at the Empire Press Union annual meeting, when he was re-elected president, said that all recognised the importance of countering German broadcasts, but many quarters showed a lack of realisation of the responsible work the oversea Press performed. Sir Roderick Jones said that when Sir John Reith controlled the 8.8. C. it was regarded as a complement to the Pi-ess and competition was eliminated.
