As she has not made a complete recoven' from the bad rick she received on the eve of the Wellington Racing Club’s Spring meeting last October, the five-year-old mare Florence Mills, by Nigger Minstrel from Liaison, has been retired to the stud. A full-sister to Quadroon and a half-sister to the Wellington Cup winner, Old Bill, Florence Mills was a brilliant galloper, her best performance being registered in the Telegraph Handicap at Trentham last autumn, when she defeated a fine field of sprinters, including Suleiman.
