STRIKING DIRECT
BRITAIN THE WORLD CITADEL. After discussing the various directions that might be taken by a German offensive, Mr J. L. Garvin reaches the following conclusion:— The only real hope of the Nazi terror is to strike at Britain direct by sea and air. The decisive ordeal for the destinies of all civilisation will have to be withstood by this country and no other. For the Nazis. Britain is the enemy. They will not fall without attempting some desperate stroke. Either they must attempt their worst against this nation and this Empire in the next six or seven months or their regime must fall. A: we said, if there is no prospect of victory by next autumn the German people will not face another winter of war. Between now and then, this Britain will be the citadel of the world.
