MASTERTON-OPAKI CLUB.

H. K. SMITH WINS CHAMPIONSHIP

The second series of the MastertonOpaki Defence Rifle Club’s shoots was fired during the weekend. H. K. Smith, with the consistent score of 47.2 average for each range, was the winner, with C. Pickering, with an average of 47, only two points behind. D. P. Donald was again brilliant, registering a double possible, one at 300 yards and one at 500 yards, but failed at the 900 vards range, registering a 43, against H. K. Smith's 47 and finishing one point behind C. Pickering for third place. R. A. Wilton won the handicap championship with the substantial margin of six points. This shooter also won the long range aggregate, as i well as the Hood Memorial Cup. The short range aggregate was won by H. K. Smith, after a shoot off with D. P. Donald.

The Menton Rose Bowl for the best score over all ranges during the season with the championship points added, was won by D. P. Donald, with H. K. Smith second. The Kummer Cup for tne highest number of consecutive bulls was won by the president, H. 11. Mawley, with 14 consecutive bulls. The weather was fine but dull with a strong left rear wind. Results of the second field day are, the totals given being the aggregate of the first and second field days:

On Saturday next, March 16, the Service shoot will take place and this shoot will decide the winners of the Wrigley Memorial Bowl, Maunsell Cup and Smith Tankard.
