Some 25,000 mine workers throughout Australia, including 17,000 in New South Wales, will become idle today as the result of a coal strike, which officially began at midnight, when ostlers and engine-drivers engaged on maintenance tasks ceased work. It is feared that thousands of workers in other industries will soon been t of work as the result of the coal stoppage.
