LONDON. March 10
It was officially announced from Helsinki tonight that M. Ryti (Prime Minister), Dr Paasikivi, General Walden (representing Marshal Mannerheim) and a Finnish member of Parliament, M. Vionmaa, went to Moscow last Wednesday at the invitation of the Soviet Government, to ascertain whether possibilities exist for a cessation of hostilities and restoration of ptace. Contact was established through the mediation of Sweden. Ihe delegation has already held joint sessions with the Russian representatives, from whom it obtained details of the latter’s peace proposals. No decision has been taken so far.
The latest reports from Europe give the prospect of a negotiated Russian-Finnish peace a fifty-fifty chance, while the Rome radio goes so far as to say that a tentative basis of agreement was reached.
