TRENDS IN RECENT TIMES BEWITCHING STYLES PREDOMINANT. REVIEW BY NOTED ENGLISH JOURNALIST. Among the first results of the outbreak of war was the number of wedding announeod. Many were “quietly at so-and-so, because of the situation,” and to road ol them is rather heartening. This article, by JI. Pearl Adam, a noted English journalist, tells some of the recent trends in bridal fashions.

Sunshine looks very bright when clouds are on the horizon. It is good to see weddings shining against that background, to find common sense maintaining itself throughout the British race, which is al wavs particularly sentimental. The mixture is peculiar to that race. If the war is to be short, there is no reason why weddings should not take place. If it is to be long, the young people had bet 7 ter take what the}’ can of the normal. &
