GIVEN WIDE PUBLICITY IN BRITAIN. STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF INFORMATION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, March 8. The Minister of Information. Sir John Reith, in a written reply to Commander S. King-Hall (N. Lab.) in reference to an article in the “Die Woche” on March 3. said: “It is part of the task of the Ministry of Information to make plain the consequences of a German victory to Britain, the Empire and neutrals. I shall certainly give wide publicity to the plans revealed by this article, together with other published material, as evidence of the German intentions.” BREAKING UP THE EMPIRE. ALLURING NAZI PLANS. (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON. March 8. The reply given by the Minister of Information (Sir John Reith) to a question in the House of Commons refers to an article in the German weekly newspaper “Die Woche" "The World when England has Been Conquered, which gives the impression that the destruction of England would benefit the. world. It says the Dominions could proclaim, their independence or, like Canada and perhaps Australia, seek union with more powerful neighbours. Other benefits would include the handing over of Gibraltar to Spain, Malta to Italv, Cyprus to Greece, the Falkland islands. South Shetlands and Grahamland to the Argentine, and British Guiana to Brazil and Venezuela, while the African colonies “would be open to all the progressive nations of Europe.” The article premises a union between Northern and Southern Ireland, the removal of political frontiers and trade barriers and a free intermingling ot peoples throughout Europe.
