WAIRARAPA CLUB’S ANNUAL REPORT. PAST SEASON'S ACTIVITIES. The ninth annual report of the Wairarapa Wrestling Association, to be presented at the annual meeting by the president, Mr. A. J. Snelgrove, states: “What otherwise promised to be an outstanding season, in conjunction with the New Zealand Centennial, was rudely interfered with and definitely stopped by the war, and your association was only able to arrange two professional matches. While the war lasts, it is not likely that pofessionals will be imported and our activities will have to be concentrated on our amateurs and New Zealand professionals. In their interests and in response to the Empire call we hope to make the coming season as near as possible to 'business as usual,’ and would ask for the continued support of all members to that end. “The balance sheet shows the affairs of the association to be in a healthy condition and it is proposed to donate the sum of £lO 10s. to the Mayor’s Patriotic Fund. “The amateur championships were held at Featherston on September 1 and that club is thanked for its help and entertainment. The results, after keen competition, were as follow: Bantam, 8.11. M. Leighton, Featherston; feather, 9.8, D. Jensen, Featherston; lightweight, 10.5, G. Wenden, Featherston- welter, 11.4, H. Chappel, Masterton: middle. 12.6, R. Sutherland, Masterton; light-heavy, 13.9. T. Reed, Featherston; heavy, over 13.9, J. H. Dryden, Featherston. Dryden also won the Wellington provincial and New Zealand heavy championships. “Several Wairarapa amateurs have answered the call and gone overseas or are at present in camp. Among the first was Harry Hill, who will be missed as a wrestler, coach and referee. Your executive made suitable recognition of his interest and services. The championship cups, suitablj' engraved, will be presented to winners at the annual general meeting, to be held in the A. & P. Room. Perry Street, Masterton, on Monday. March 11, at 8 p.m." ,
