According' to New York Press reports. the Queen Elizabeth arrived at quarantine in New York harbour this morning. She has crossed the Atlantic in order to make room for other ships in British harbours. Especially during war time, every available berth is required to meet the ceaseless stream of shipping which enters Britain's ports. The screaming whistles of harbour craft, diving aeroplanes and cheering crowds on the Manhattan and New Jersey shorelines welcomed the Queen Elizabeth as she docked after her strange maiden crossing, which is hailed as an outstanding war drama. Observers noted that the liner apparently was without guns. Charged steel cables, which act as an insulation against magnetic mines, encircled her-hull.
