Mrs McGovern. Auckland, is staying with Mrs H. M. Boddington, Solway. Mr and Mrs Foote (Wellington) stayed at the Hotel Midland, Masterton, yesterday. Mrs Wilder, Hawke’s Bay, is the guest of Miss J. McLaren, Renall Street.
Mr and Mrs R. Singleton, of Wanganui, are the guests of Mrs G. L. Hessell, Masterton.
Mr and Mrs Fleming (Auckland) were guests yesterday at the Hotel Midland, Masterton. One of Hawke’s Bay best-known residents. Mrs Edith Blanche Hunter, Wellington road, Waipukurau, died in the Waipukurau district Hospital on Tuesday. Mrs Hunter was the widow of Mr Paul Hunter, Porangahau, who died 13 years ago. She accompanied him to Porangahau as a bride 55 years ago and lived on at their station after he died till failing health caused her to move to Waipukurau four years ago. Two of Mrs Hunter’s great interests were the Red Cross Society and the Plunket Society. During the Great War she was an indefatigable Red Cross worker in Waipukurau. She was a vice-president of the local branch of the society, and for a short time held the presidency of the Napier centre during Mrs T. H. Lowry’s absence overseas. For many years she was a vice-president of the Waipukurau branch of the Plunket Society.
