CHAMPION PAIRS CONTEST.

WON BY J. SKEET & W. CHRISTIAN (Notes by “The Bowler.”) The final of the champion pairs of the Masterton Bowling Club was played last evening between J. Skeet and W. Christian (s), and N. FI. Prior and O. Jones (s). and resulted in a win for Skeet and Christian by 26 to 10. The green was in good order and played well. There was a large number of onlookers, but I feel that they were a little disappointed at the large margin cf points, as they expected the game to have resulted in a close finish, especially as in the semi-final Prior and Jones gave a good display of bowling. Skeet and Christian both gave an excellent exhibition of bowling, their drawing being especially good, and if they can retain that form on Saturday next, they should succeed in. winning' the Wairarapa Champion of Champion Pairs.

I congratulate the winners on their fine effort, and I am sure they will carry with them the best wishes of the club members for success in the champion of champion pairs. I must also congratulate Prior and Jones on winning their games which took them to the final. The Masterton Club has many fine bowlers, and if any player succeeds in reaching the finals, he must have played many good games. I was very pleased to see Jack Skeet drawing well, as he has not been in the best of health for some weeks. The scores in detail are: — On the sixth head, Christian was leading by 5 points, but on the 10th head this lead was increased to 14 points, the score board showing Christian ’7. Jones 3. At the 14th head there was a margin of 20 points, the scores being Christian 25. Jones 5. On the next 4 heads Jones pul on 5 points and Christion 1 point making the totals on the 18th head Christian 26. Jones 10. and the game concluded
