Ascot Bloom, a gelding by Foxbridge from Curraghmore. showed promise when he ran third to Grandora and Royal Descent at the Auckland midsummer meeting. He was not started again till the Te Aroha meeting, but ho failed to show up. On the second day the racing he had on the first day evidently improved him a lot, for he finished on from a long way back to get third. Ascot Bloom will do better with age. Another Addition. The Gore trainer T. G. Pollock is to have another addition to his stable in the near future, a district sportsman having recently purchased the Austra-lian-bred gelding Great Legion. Great Legion is a four-year-old by the imported Fernkloof from Cool Courage by Heroic—Winter, by Cooltrim from Petronet, who traces back to that great mare Lady Chester. He was raced in New Zealand for the past two seasons and during this season for one or two minor successes, his most impressive performances having been for place money.
