BOXER’S DEATH
FOLLOWING A KNOCK-OUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Stan Jenkin, Oamaru, who was admited to hospital on Monday night after being knocked out by Vic Caltaux in the last round of the professional bout for the New Zealand welterweight title in Petone, died last night at about 11.30 o’clock. Jenkin was suffering from severe concussion. Jenkin's death is a serious loss to sport in New Zealand. He was a very fine boxei’ who had gained a high reputation inside the ring and among his fellows generally. He held the New Zealand welterweight title a couple of years ago. but lost it through being overweight for his match with Neville Mudgway at Dunedin. Since he forfeited this title, he beat Cliff Hanham three times, George Allen twice, Barney Down, Tiger Parks, and Billy Parris, and he was beaten by Johnny Foster, the Canadian, and Billy Parris. He had a fine amateur record which included 16 wins and four losses.
