BOWLING

MASTERTON CLUB GAMES. CHAMPION PAIRS. (Notes by “The Bowler.") The semi-final of the Masterton Bowling Club’s champion pairs, was played last evening, but the games did hot result in close finishes. N. H. Prior and O. Jones (s) defeated Bannister and Carstens (s), by 19 to 10. On the 7th head the scores were Jones 6', Carstens 3. Jones still retained his lead on the 10th head, the board reading 5 points in his favour. On the 13th head the scores were Jones 11, Carstens 6. Jones had a lead of 7 points ;rt 18th head, and on the 20th head the final scores were Jones 19 Carstens 10. J. Skeet and W. Christian (s) defeated G. Beecroft and G. Hayne ,(s) by 24 to 14. A. Stubbings played lead in place of J. Sheet, who was indisposed. On the 6th head the score board showed Christian 8. Hayne 3. Christian had a commanding lead on the 10th head, the scores being Christian 15, Hayne 4. On the 13th head Christian had increased his lead to 15 points, and on the 16th head the scores were Christian 21. Hayne 11. On the last 4 heads each pair scored 3 points, making the final scores Christian 24. Hayne 14. The green played well, although on the slow side after the heavy rain. Skeet and Christian now meet N. If. Prior and Jones in the final and the winner will represent the Masterton club in the Wairarapa champion of champion pairs which commence on Saturday next on the Masterton Club's green. EASTER TOURNEY. On Easter Saturday, March 23. on tile Masterton Club’s green, a progressive pairs tournament will be played, commencing at 9 a.m. Entries close on Wednesday, 20th inst. The tourney is an open one and the secretary of the Mastertori Club will be pleased Io accept entries from all bowlers irrespective of what club they belong to. This tourney has been most popular in previous years and large entries are expected, this year.
