BRITISH POLICE CASTING WIDE NET ALLEGED ILLEGAL USE OF SEARCHLIGHTS. AS GUIDE TO ENEMY AIRMEN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, March 5. The police have launched a countrywide spy round-up. They are investigating reports from eight villages in the vicinity of Tilbury suggesting that powerful searchlights are being employed to convey messages to the Germans to assist airmen.
One of those arrested is reported to have admitted that Germany is planning extensive night raids on Britain.
