When a constable and a traffic inspector visited a motor ca.' on the Te Aroha racecourse recently, they found a seven-months-old baby lying on the back seat in an exhausted condition. The parents had gone away, leaving the ear completely closed up. The child’s head was cover.•;! with a blanket, and it was evident lliat the baby was suffocating. It was necessary for the traffic inspector to force the door open, and the police spent a considerable time in ii viviiig the semiconscious baby.
