On lhe opening day of the thoroughbred yearling sales. 117 lots sold at. an average of 2131 guineas, compared witli an average of 283 guineas on the corresponding' day last year. The top price of 1000 gns was paid for a colt by Gay Lothario, from Beneficiary. Eight. Gay Lotharia colts sold for 5450 guineas, an average of GBl guineas.
