VISIT TO SWITZERLAND REPORT TO WASHINGTON. MEETING WITH DR SCHACHT. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Dav. 11.50 a.m.) LAUSANNE, March 4. Mr Sumner Welles has arrived. He is expected to spend most of his Switzerland visit in writing a report on his Berlin talks lor immediate transmission to Washington. The Berlin correspondent of the "National Zeiiung” (Basle), says Mr Welles met Doctor Schacht (former German Minister of Economy) yesterday and discussed German-American trade. It is believed that Dr Schacht was invited to America. Swiss Press reports confirm Ihe general impression that the Nazi leaders used Mi- Welles’s visit to Berlin for a great display of German optimism and determination. Germany appeared to have one solution to problems of peace and trade —namely, the destruction of Britain.
