Because of the risk of stock parasites being introduced to New Zealand, the North Canterbury Executive of tho New Zealand Farmers’ Union, at a recent meeting, passed a motion —“That the Dominion headquarters of the union ask tho Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon W. E. Barry) to investigate all importations for acclimatisation societies before granting permission for the same.” Mr J. E. H. McGrath (Oxford) said that he had read in Point Blank recently something about tho possible importation of a snail for use in trout-fishing. This snail happened to be a host for liver-flukes. “We have enough parasites without getting another one,” Mr McGrath said, "and I hope this snail will not be brought into the country."
