VISIT TO EXHIBITION BIG PARTY OF CHILDREN. Last Friday some 450 children and parents from Featherston, Martinborough Kahutara and Western Lake spent a happy day at the Centennial Exhibition. Under the very capable organisation of the chairman of the School Committee, Mr J. W. Holland, everything went off according to plan, with the result that everyone had a really happy time. Mr Holland was also instrumental in obtaining reduced rates for the children. In several instances a number of the children made their first rail trip over the Rimutakas and the four engines puffing and straining to carry the big load over the hill provided one of the many thrills of the day. Before leaving for home, every child was handed a hot meat pie on the station. The happy but very tired crowd of little people arrived back in Featherston at about 10.30 p.m. Personal. Mr and Mrs C. J. Nix, Tauherenikau, returned on Saturday from a motor tour of Auckland. Rotorua and Taupo. Petty-Officer Poole, Mrs Poole and Mr T. Hindley, of Wellington, were weekend visitors to Featherston. J.
