CARTERTON

SATURDAY’S BOWLING CHAMPION PAIRS FINAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final game for the Carterton Bowling Club pairs championship was played on the green on - Saturday and after an interesting game Kilmister and Beale (s) beat Harrington and R. Thompson (s) by a big margin. The scores were 27/14. Other friendly games were played and a good afternoon’s sport enjoyed. Vital Statistics. The vital statistics registered at Carterton in February were (the figures for 1939 given in parentheses): —Births, G (7); deaths 3 (3); marriages 3 (2). Personal. The Rev H. White who has ministered the Carterton District as its Methodist Minister for several years has been appointed to the charge of the Methodist Circuit at Tauranga. Mr White’s place at Carterton will be taken by the Rev J. A. Dalglish of Milton. During his residence in Carterton, Mr White has endeared himself to his congregation, and he and his family have made many friends, whom they will find it hard to leave. Mr White has besides his Church activities taken a keen interest in public affairs, and is a member of the Carterton Public Library Committee. He is a keen football enthusiast, and has on many occasions controlled Rugby matches in Wairarapa as a referee.
