PATROL BATTLE
GERMANS ATTACK FRENCH AMBUSH REPELLED WITH SEVERE LOSSES. EVENTS ON WEST FRONT. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day. 11.0 a.m.) PARIS. March 3. A fierce fight occurred east of the Moselle, where thirty French soldiers, lying in ambush expecting a German patrol. found themselves attacked from three sides by about a hundred Germans. The French, fighting vigorously, extricated themselves, inflicting severe losses and .finally driving the enemy back in confusion.

(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 11.5 a.m.) RUGBY, Mtfrch 3. This evening's French official communique states: "In the course of a raid west of the Vosges, lite enemy took a few prisoners. On our side, in the region of Lauter, we laid an ambush which succeeded. There has been marked activity on the part ol aerial forces on both sides.”
