An interest in the work of the Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Society in Auckland is shown in a letter received by the society from Sir Samuel Hoare. Lord Privy Seal, who devoted much ell'ort before the war to the question of prison reform in England. "1 am pleased to hear of the interest in prison reform in New Zealand, writes Sir Sai'nuel. "and I greatly hope | that the war will not bring the niove- | meat to a standstill." He adds that I his work in the British War Cabinet . now occupies most, of his time, but i he still follows prison questions with I great interest.
