RUGBY TOURS
AUSTRALIAN PROPOSALS NEW ZEALAND UNLIKELY TO ACCEPT. LEAGUE OFFICIAL’S VIEW. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This-Day, 11.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The New South Wales Rugby Union has asked the New Zealand Union whether it would like a team of Australians to tour the Dominion during the season, or whether the New Zealand Union would prefer to send a team of All Blacks to Australia. Officials here consider that the international situation may influence New Zealanders against- an interchange of visits at this time, but it is thought that if a tour takes place the money taken could be given to the patriotic funds of both' countries.
Mr H-. Flegg-,■ president of- the- New South Wales Rugby League and chairman of the Australian Board’’ of- Control; said! “Personally. T consider the’ New-Zealand-League-did- the- wisest thing-, in not accepting, the invitation to send a team to Australia. There is considerable uncertainty in the international- situation and- New Zealanders seem to look on the war differently from Australians and-to-be more intent on organising for victory.” ,
