MR SUMNER WELLES’S MISSION. APPRECIATION OF ITALIAN COURTESY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) ROME, February 27. Mr Sumner Welles, emphasised that President Roosevelt’s instructions precluded his commenting on his conversations with Signor Mussolini and Count Ciano. He added that he deeply apprecaited Italy’s courtesy and helpful conversations. Mr Welles expects to revisit Signor Mussolini after conversing with Herr Hitler and Herr von Ribbentrop. He will reach Berlin on March 1. The German public is not aware of the visit or the nature of it. This is believed to be due to a desire to prevent false hopes of peace..
