The view that everyone who held a driving licence should be compelled to take a first-aid course was expressed at the annual meeting of the Auckland centre of the St John Ambulance Association by the chairman of the committee, Mr C. J. Tunics. An instance was quoted by Mr Tunks of an accident where a number of people were standing about doing nothing when a girl St John Ambulance cadet arrived on the way home from school and, taking charge of the situation, showed her elders how first-aid should be rendered. Drivers had a responsibility to learn what to do in case of accident.
