FOUR MEN LOST

The British steamer Loch Maddy (4,996 tons) was torpedoed in the North Atlantic on February 22 and 35 survivors were picked up by a warship which, it is believed, sank the U-boat. Alter being torpedoed the crew were below deck, with a cargo of timber keeping the vessel afloat, and the warship had resumed her cruise, after asking if they were all right. Hearing two explosions aboard the Loch Maddy the warship returned and picked up the survivors. Four of the crew were lost.
