MAILS AT BERMUDA

ALLEGED ARMED SEARCH ACCOUNT BY EYEWITNESS. "AFFAIR ONE OF THE JOLLIEST IMAGINABLE.” (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY. February 26. Further light, is thrown on reports of an armed search of a Pan-American Clipper at Bermuda on January 18. which were officially denied, by a letter appearing in today’s "Daily Telegraph,” from Mr J. Fox-Williams, who was present at the time, waiting to take passage in the aircraft concerned. After describing the events in detail. Mr Fox-Williams concludes: "The whole affair was one of the jolliest imaginable. The small group of special constabulary, in a trim motor-launch, made a pretty picture against the late afternoon sun in the harbour at Hamilton. There was no sign of any weapon more potent than smiles on both sides, leaving with all concerned an impression of tho pleasant manner in which the great democracies are capable of recognising each other’s rights.”
