'Hie Post Office has received a number of inquiries as to the safety of letters sent to England. Il is believed that the majority of these inquiries have arisen out of the increased time taken by sea mails in reaching Great Britain. The delays that have occurred have been due entirely to circumstances created by the war. It is expected, however. that such delays will not be so great in future. If any person in New Zealand, therefore, receives information that mail matter has not reached its English destination by an expected date, lie should not entertain tiny undue concern as to the safety of the mail. Up to the present, no indication lias been received in New Zealand that any mails in transit from or for the Dominion have been lost as a result of the war. Generally it will be found 'die letters thought possibly to be missing will be delivered in due course.
