SLIP IN GORGE
HAWKE’S BAY TRAINS PROCEED VIA WAIRARAPA. The slip mi tiic railway line in the Manawatu Gorge is proving troublesome and debris continues to fall. In consequence, all rail traffic to and from Hawke’s Bay is proceeding via the Wairarapa. Masterton residents are little used to having their sleep disturbed by night train traffic, but quite a numbei of"people were awakened last night by the pp.ssngc of goods tiTiins.

An opening was pierced today in the slip blocking the mouth of a railway tunnel in the Manawatu Gorge enabling work to be undertaken on both sides of the slip.
