GERMAN CLAIMS
ALLIED PLANES SHOT DOWN SINKING OF CONTRABAND. SINCE OUTBREAK OF WAR. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) BERLIN. February 25. A communique states that there has been slight reconnaissance, chaser and patrol activity over the GermanFrench frontier and Heligoland Bight. One French and one British plane were shot down. The communique says 496 enemy and neutral merchantmen carrying 1.810,315 tons of contraband for Britain were sunk from the outbreak of. war to February 20. ENEMY REPORT' UNTRUE NO BRITISH PLANE SHOT DOWN. ACTUAL FIGURE OF SHIPPING LOSSES. (Received This Day. 11.45 a.m.} LONDON, February 25. It is learned from the Air Ministry that the German claim that a British plane was shot down is untrue. Unofficial figures show that 308 British, Allied and neutral ships were sunk to February 20.
