CABLEGRAMS TO EGYPT. Pending the introduction of a cheaprale cablegram service to soldiers in Egypt, which the Postmaster-General (the Hon. F. Jones) states is still the subject of negotiation, telegrams at ordinary rates may be accepted for officers and men of the first echelon of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force in Egypt. The address, which is to be paid for, must include regimental number, rank, name and unit, to which the soldier is attached, followed by the words, ‘‘N.Z.E.F., Egypt.” The ordinary rates to Egypt are: —Full rate, 2s lOd a word; deferred rate. Is 5d a word. As recently announced, however, cablegrams having reference to urgent private matters for despatch to members of his Majesty’s Army or Air Force serving elsewhere than in Egypt and Canada, will be accepted at a reduced rate of 5d a word for the text and signature, with a minimum of 2s fid for each message, no charge being made for the address. It is confidently anticipated that a similar concession will presently be applicable to messages to Egypt.
