CLASHING OF DATES

LOCAL EFFORTS TO RAISE FUNDS. KEEPING OF REGISTER PROPOSED. Observing that there appeared to be considerable conflict, of interests between bodies raising money on account of clashing of dates, which would probably be accentuated by the raising of patriotic funds. Councillor G. W. Morice, speaking at. last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, moved that the Town Clerk should keep a list of dates of various local functions for inspection by the public, so that clashing of dates might, be avoided. The Mayor, Mr ’l’. .Jordan: "I think all will agree with you al once and desire it should be done." He was sure that the Town Clerk would readily agree to keep a list, providing bodies would give notice of various events. The council had no authority to enforce action on the lines suggested, but could make the facilities available for the keeping of such a list. Other councillors agreed that it would be a good idea and that it was desirable to avoid overlapping on the lines that had been indicated.
