WEDDINGS

ALLEN—RETTIE. The marriage took place on Saturday last at the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church, Masterton. of Elsie Margaret, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Rettie, Kibblewhite Road. Masterton. to Jack, younger son of Mr and Mrs W. Allen, Upper Plain. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Robt Dickie. The bride, who was escorted by her 1 father, was attired in a frock of tahiti rose shade with brown toque, shoes and gloves. She wore a shoulder spray to tone with ner frock. Miss Mary Rettie was bridesmaid and Mr Roy Harford best man. s MORRIS—LOCK. The wedding took place recently at Knox Presbyterian Church, Masterton, of Hazel Amy, second daughter of Mrs and the late Mr I. Lock, Masterton, to lan Ward, fifth son of Mrs and the late Mr J. Morris, Te Ore Ore. The officiating minister was the Rev. J. Daviei The bride who was escorted by her I uncle, Mr H. Hughes, looked charming in her gown of magnolia shimmer satin, which was modelled on classical lines, with V-shaped neckline and long puffed sleeves. The full skirt fell to form a long train, which was embroidered, and the beautiful tulle veil formed a second train, being held in place by a halo of orange blossom. She carried a sheath of pale pink and cream gladiolas and maidenhair fern. Attending the bride were two bridesmaids. Mabel Lock, sister of the bride, (chief), and Elsie Morris, sister of the bridegroom, who wore frocks of delphinium chiffon georgette with softly draped bodices, the full length skirts being finished with rows of frills. They carried sheaths of pink gladiolas and wore halos of blue flowers in their hair. Also in the bridal retinue were two small attendants, Barbara Haugh, as flower girl, wearing a full length pink satin frock with blue frills and carrying a blue posy, and Barry Percy, nephew of the bridegroom, as page boy, attired in a white satin suit with blue finishings. Mr Roy Morris capably carried out' the duties of best man, and Mr Eric Morris acted as groomsman. During the signing of the register. Miss Ngaire Marsh sang “In God's Care.” On leaving the church the bride was presented with a satin horseshoe by little Pamela Marsh. After the ceremony over one hundred guests attended a reception in the Cosy Tea Rooms. They were received by the bride's mother who wore a becoming ensemble of navy floral marocain and navy hat. She was assisted by Mrs Morris, who was attired in an attractive navy floral frock, navy georgette redingote and navy accessories. The usual toasts were .honoured. Later Mr and Mrs I. W. Morris left for the South Island, the bride wearing a clover chiffon frock, dark clover coat and navy accessories. .Their future home will be in Masterton. ■ -
