The inter-Dominion trotting championships were concluded last night with a match race between Icevus and Logan Derby over a mile, the objective being a new record, and five other events from championship nominations, all from flying starts. The conditions were ideal and there was a good attendance. Results wore as follow: — VICTORIA STAKES. One and a-half miles. Master Dixie (N.S.W.) 1 Grand Mogul (N.Z.) 2 Our Globe (Tasmania) 3 .Six started. Won by eighteen yards; fifteen yards. Time. 2.30. . TASMANIA STAKES. One an a-quarter miles. . Flying Globe (N.S.W.) 1 ' Binnia (Western Australia) 2 Arab Chief (Western Australia) .... ,: .Six started. Won by a foot; 11 yards Time. 2.42;',. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STAKES. One mile. Willowisp (Western Australia) 1 Lee Derby (Western Australia) .... 2 Supertax (N.Z.) .• .... 3 Six started. Won by eighteen yards: a foot. Time. 2.5 J. NEW SOUTH WALES STAKES. One and a-half miles. Kolect (Western Australia) 1 Belalie (Western Australia) 2 Paddy Royal (Western Australia) .... 2 Six started. Won by fifteen yards: half a yard. Time, 3.191. The match mile was won by Logan Derby who led Icevus by half a length for a lap and a half when he came away to win by eighteen yards in 2.4. Icevus did 2.5 L The state record is held by New Derby who did 2£l in 1936. NEW ZEALAND STAKES. One and a-half miles. Earl Pronto (Western Australia) .... 1 Lachlan Machine (N.S.W.) ...-. 2 Taiga Boy (Western Australia) 3 Six started. Won by eighteen yards; a yard. Time, 3.1 IL The prize money at the carnival amounted to £9,475 and the association shows a profit. Before the conclusion of the meeting Master Dixie (N.S.W.) essayed to break the mile State record. He recorded 2.2 1-5 and took the £lOO given by the association. R. A. McMillan, the ownertrainer of Uenuku. said that he was greatly impressed with the holding of trotting races under electric light. McMillan deeply regretted the shoulder injury to Uenuku which had occurred possibly while the horse was rolling. Uenuku’s prospects of gaining great prominence in the championship had been exceptionally bright. However New Zealand horses had maintained the high standard set in the Dominion.
