WEDDING MONTAGUE—BEECH. ("Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of interest to residents in the Wairarapa was solemnised recently at St. Brigid's Church, Pahiatua, when John Fredinand, younger son of Mr and Mrs J. P. Montague, Thames, was married to Honora Margaret Geraldine, daughter of Mrs and the late J. P. Beecn, of Pahiatua. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father M. Cashman. ALFREDTON SPORTS TO BE HELD ON MARCH 9. The Alfredton District Sports Club will hold its annual horse sports at Alfredton on Saturday, March 9. This year the prize money amounts to £6O, and there will also be several valuable cups for competition. The programme should draw large entries. Included are athletic and novelty events. A dance will be held at night in the Alfredton Hall. Tennis Matches Postponed. Owing to the adverse weather on Sunday the tennis matches in the Greathead Cup series were postponed Destruction by Stoats. Stoats are causing considerable loss to local poultry keepers, who have had ducks and fowls killed. The' stoats have not escaped scot free, however, as a number have been trapped and destroyed. Personal Items. Mrs H. Elsmore Senr., late of Newman, is at present very ill in the Pahiatua Hospital. Mr Phil Hinds, a former resident of Hastwells, is an inmate of the Pahiatua Hospital.
