PRIZE GARDENS

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S COMPETITION ENTRANTS SET GOOD STANDARD. RESULTS OF RECENT CONTEST. A very good standard was set in the gardens’ entered in the Masterton Horticultural Society's garden competition, the judging of which was completed a day or two ago. The judges, Messrs 11. Sturgeon and W. Murray, commented on tiie general excellence of the gardens inspected and of the splendid reception they had from the entrants. The results of the competitions are. Quarter-acre (maximum points 200): J. J. Andrew. Opaki Road, 167pts, 1; C. 1-1. Jarvis. Opaki Road, 155 points, 2; W. M. Heckler, 36 College Street, 152 points, 3. Three-quarter acre: (maximum points 200): Mr S. Clarke. 22 Devon Street, 1601 points. 1; G. R. Croll, 115 Renall Street, 150 points. 2; Mrs Spackman, 26 Totara Street, 1481 points, 3. The prizes will be presented at the Autumn Flower Show, to be held on Wednesday, March 6.
