MANY CLAIMS
MADE BY UNITED STATES REDRESS SOUGHT FROM JAPAN. BOMBING AND OTHER DAMAGE IN CHINA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK. February 14. The Tokio correspondent of the Associated Press of America says the Foreign Minister. Mr 11. Arita, told the Diet that Japan is considering more than 200 unsettled protests against damage to American interests in China, including 149 bombings, 73 miscellaneous damage eases, 10 commercial restriction protests and two or three killings of Americans on which compensation has been paid. The correspondent, adds that Japan is investigating other insults and indignities which Mr Arita classed as “minor matters." The Washington correspondent of the United Press says officials are expecting a further straining of Japan-ese-American relations following the passage of the Bill enabling loans to be made to China. The Hong Kong correspondent of the Associated Press says the Japanese High Command in South China has sent a message to Marshal Chiang Kaishek suggesting that he sue for peace, and boasting: “Our operations are unprecedented. Their brilliance resembles Tannenberg."
