JOHNSONVILLE SALE. KEEN COMPETITION FOR SHEEP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A small yarding of all classes of cattle was forward at the sale held in Johnsonville yesterday. No prime heavyweight bullocks were forward, the yarding comprising a few pens of rnediumweight cattle, with the balance being light and unfinished sorts. Because of the poor quality of the yarding the demand was not brisk. Heavyweight cattle met with keen competition. prices being slightly firmer than last week's. Light and mediumweight cattle met with no alteration. The yarding of runners and vealers was not up to the usual standard. Only a few prime quality cattle were forward, and these met with a ready sale at firm prices. Small calves met with a good sale. Only a few pens of prime heavy wethers were forward in the sheep sections and they met with a good sale, prices being Gd to Is a head above those of last week. Light and unfinished wethers were not wanted. The penning of ewes was of good quality, and all classes met with a ready sale at prices which showed little alteration. Heavyweight lambs met with keen competition at prices slightly above those of the works. Prices are:—

Cattle: Prime heavy bullocks, £l3 10s to £l3, heavy £l2 18s to £l2, light and unfinished £ll 10s to £lO 10s; extra prime heavy heifers £lO to £9, cows £8 Ils to £8: prime heavy cows and heifers £7 5s to £7; cows and heifers £6 12s 6d to £G; runners and vealers £3 14s to £2 ss: small calves 35s to 12s Gd.

Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers 25s to 245. prime heavy 23s 9d to 235, medium 22s to 20s; prime extra heavy ewes 19s to 17s, prime heavy 16s 9d to IGs, medium 14s Gd to 12s 6d; heavy spring lambs 26s to 23s Gd. medium 21s 7d to 20s, light 18s Gd to 15s.

ADDINGTON VALUES. DEMAND FOR PIGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 14. Large yardings of fat lambs and sheep were forward at the Addington sale today. The best of the ewe lambs sold at up to 2Gs. Crossbred and threequarter bred c-wes were in good demand. Fine-wooled ewes, particularly the older lines, met with a dull sale. Lambs other ■ than fat were worth about Is a head less than those of last week, the top price being 37s Id.- Prime heavy wethers made 25s Gd to 31s, ordinary sorts 21s to 255. light to 20s Gd; prime heavy ewes. 23s to 255, ordinary sorts 13s to 17s Gd. light to 12s Gd. In fat cattle few outstandingly good linos were offered. Prices for the better sorts of steers, heifers, and cows showed little change from last week’s values.

The entry of porkers at the start of the sales was very small, and competition was keen. Values were about 2s a head above those of last week. Choppers made £2 18s Gd to £6 Is; light porkers. 41s Gd to 47s Gd. medium 49s Gd to 53s Gd, heavy 54s Gd to 59s Gd — an average alb of 6,1 d to 7Jd; light baccners 58s Gd to G7s Gd, medium G9s Gd to 74s Gd, heavy 78s 6d to 86s 6d, extra heavy 87s Gd to 94s Gd—an average a lb of 6jld to 7d.
