Mrs Arthur Church. Masterton. has been on a visit to Wellington. Mrs C. Wright, of Church Street. Masterton, has returned from a visit to Auckland and Rotorua. Mr and Mrs Gordon Milne. Te Kuiti. are the guests of Mr and Mrs George Milne, Masterton.
Mrs Goodall, Wellington, has been the guest of Mrs McLachlan, Lincoln Road, Masterton.
No fewer than 70 telegrams of congratulation were received by Mr and Mrs J. Siddells. Wanganui, who on Friday celebrated the sixtieth year of their married life. Among those who sent telegrams were His Majesty the King, the Governor-General, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway, and the Prime Minister, Mr Savage. More than 100 guests were present at the celebration.
The death has occurred of Mrs Hannah Jane Stallworthy, Aratapu, wife of the late Mr John Stallworthy, a former M.P. for Kaipara, aged 90. Born in Cornwall, England, Mrs Stallworthy arrived in New Zealand with her parents in 1872. Married in the Methodist Church. Whangaroa, in 1873, Mrs Stallworthy and her husband moved to Auckland a year later, returning to Aratapu in 1880. They were the first white people to be married at Whangaroa. Mrs Stallworthy, who celebrated her 90th birthday on Christmas Eve last, enjoyed excellent health and was remarkable for her vigour. Descendants of Mrs Stallworthy number more than 100. and include no fewer than nine children, 41 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. One of her sons is Mr A. J. Stallworthy, Epsom, a former M.P. for Eden and Minister of Health..
